Plains Midstream Canada is looking for a Business Analyst (BA) to join the Solution Delivery team in the Information Services (IS) department. As a key member of our team, the BA will be involved in implementation, enhancement, and retirement of IT solutions for our internal clients. The key responsibilities of the role will be the analysis and management of business requirements and business processes in order to improve efficiency and support business growth. The ideal candidate will also provide support to the team in the areas of testing, training, communications, and organizational change management.
The Operations Service Delivery team provides complete Application Lifecycle Management services for the Field Operations, Engineering and Environment, Health & Safety departments. The successful candidate will work closely with the Environmental, Measurement & Quality, Health and Safety teams in the key focus areas of regulatory, product quality, damage prevention, health and safety, stakeholder management, and emergency management. Background in these areas would be an asset.
Work collaboratively with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and all key internal and external stakeholders to define requirements, design, develop and deliver business solutions. This includes but is not limited to;
Requirements Management i.e. requirements planning, stakeholder analysis, scheduling requirements gathering sessions, workshop facilitation, requirements documentation as well as the prioritization and validation of requirements, etc.;
Business Process Management i.e. process planning, scheduling workshops, document current state processes, facilitate gap analysis sessions and establish future state processes;
Participate in product selection exercises such as contributing to RFP process, matching requirements to solution options, product demo and scoring, and providing recommendations;
Contribute to the design of the solution to ensure business requirements are met and to participate in system implementation, including coordination of testing activities;
Build and manage relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
Participate in the governance, and continuous improvement, of key applications via the Application Management Life Cycle process
Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of processes within the team.
8+ years of experience in business analysis for the IT sector;
Experience with the use of operational technology and its application to midstream activities would be considered an asset;
Post-secondary education in Business or Information Systems;
Ability to think strategically – to see the big picture before doing a deep dive for projects;
Demonstrated knowledge of BA industry-standard best-practices, such as the IIBA;
Experienced in software selection exercises and/or system implementation projects, including Quality Assurance aspects such as coordinating testing sessions;
Experienced in Business Process Management (As-Is, Gap-Analysis and To-Be) and Organizational Change Management such as communications and training;
Have strong analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to translate business requirements into solutions;
Proficient with Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Project, etc.;
Self-motivated, be able to function independently with minimal supervision and able to multitask in a fast-paced team environment with multiple stakeholder profiles;
Demonstrated effective communication (both verbal and written), documentation and organizational skills;
Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to establish good working relationships within project team and become a trusted advisor for the business stakeholders;
