Reporting to the Manager, Architecture, Analysis and Recovery, the ITS Architect is responsible for carrying out the operational aspects of Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries’ Enterprise Architecture (EA) program, as well as the execution of the EA governance processes, and maintaining all EA records and documentation. Each ITS Architect will generally be responsible for a domain (e.g., network, applications, information security, etc.) and may be assigned to a specific line of business as an area of focus.
Duties: • Create enterprise architecture strategies as assigned. • Create enterprise project architecture as assigned. • Ensure the design of IT solutions meet business and non-functional requirements, IT standards and principles and can be successfully supported. • Lead an IT Solution Design Team for projects and facilitate team meetings to collaboratively design solutions which meet business and technical requirements. • Act as a liaison between project managers and project implementation team. • Maintain enterprise architecture documentation; including Framework and Process documentation, Conceptual Architecture, IT Principles, IT technical standards, EA models, short and long term strategy, capability maps and architecture patterns. • Establish non-technical/technical/solution requirements which support IT objectives and goals. • Ensure EA practices are in alignment with TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework). Recommend changes to improve EA practices. • Participate in the development of EA standards and principles across the enterprise and within EA domains (e.g. networks, applications, information security, management, etc.) • Identify and report EA violations to management. • Research a range of technology options to serve identified business strategies. • Identify the most appropriate technology solutions for the organization’s business needs. • Stay current with industry trends, best practices and emerging technologies. • Develop and/or oversee the development of position statements on the use of technology solutions within Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries. • Participate in aligning enterprise architecture with the organization’s annual Strategic Plan and also with other technology departments (e.g., Corporate Security, Corporate Production). • Assist in creating and maintaining a list of strategies and priorities, based on business needs. • Assist in the development and maintenance of the Information Technology Services (ITS) five-year enterprise architecture strategic plan. • Participate in the development and evaluation of RFI and RFPs for strategic technology purchases. • Other related duties as assigned.
Primary Qualifications: • Completion of a recognized degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related IT discipline. • A minimum of nine years Information Technology related experience. • A minimum of five years senior level domain experience (e.g. networks, applications, information security, management, etc.) • A combination of leading edge technology innovations combined with knowledge of MBLL’s operations in order to create practical solutions. • Strong analytical and organizational skills. • The ability to work in a team environment. • A broad knowledge of technology (networking, applications, software development, databases, internet, etc.) and business analysis (requirements gathering, modeling, etc.). • Continuous upgrading/learning is required to remain current in information technology. • Lifelong learning in developing innovative ways of acquiring and transferring knowledge in complex circumstances.
Secondary Qualifications: • Bilingual (French/English) language skills. • Industry credentials in Architecture Frameworks are considered an asset. • Project Management training is an asset.
